Iris Fold

Happy Friday eve!  I hope you're all having a great week!!  Do you have some fun plans for St Paddy's Day??  We're hoping to hit the local parade, something I've never done before, so I'm pretty excited!

The card I have to share today is something I created to fit a couple of different challenges.  This week over at Die Cuttin Divas, the challenge is to use the colors Green, Yellow, Black and White.  They have a bonus challenge of trying the Iris Fold technique.  I had no idea what the Iris Fold was, but one of the Die Cuttin Divas designers, Yvette, has a great tutorial on her blog.  Be sure to check it out HERE.  I love learning new techniques, so I figured I'd give this one a try!  :)

Over at My Craft Spot, the challenge this week is Manly Man Cards.  I always have a hard time with cards for guys because I want to add bling and sparkle to many of my creations, so this is definitely a challenge for me!

Here's my take on a manly man card, using the Iris Fold and the colors green, yellow, black and white.  I decided to make an easel card and I used my Gypsy and cut a rectangle from Plantin Schoolbook with the cupcake from Doodlecharms on top to create my image layer.  Thanks for coming by to take a look!

Recipe:
Solid cardstock from Recollections
Patterned cardstock from The Paper Studio, DCWV and  We R Memory Keepers
Rectangle from Plantin Schoolbook cut at 4 x 5.25 inches
Cupcake from Doodlecharms cut at 4 inches
Sentiment from TPC Studio Greetings stamp set
Black embossing powder
American Crafts twine
Button from my stash
White Sakura gel pen
