FCCB 183 - Home Decor

Happy Monday!!  Monday means it's time for a new challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut!  This week's challenge is to create a fall or Halloween home decor project, using your Cricut of course!

When I heard about this challenge, I knew I wanted to make a fun Halloween candy bowl.  I usually just dump candy in a random plastic bowl on Halloween night to pass out as kids come to the door.  As I was setting out my Halloween decorations this year, I decided I wanted a Halloween candy bowl that I could set out leading up to Halloween, too.  I'm not sure how wise this decision was though, as my sweetie and I have polished off nearly an entire bag of candy by ourselves in about a week!!

I started with this orange mixing bowl I found in the clearance section at Target.  Then I started flipping through some of my favorite Halloween cartridges and found a few fun images.

I found this Happy Halloween image with the spider web background on the Mini Monsters cartridge.

The cat and pumpkin are from the October 31st cartridge.

All of the images were cut out of vinyl.  I used some transfer tape and was able to easily put the images on the bowl.  Fill it up with Halloween candy, and I'm ready to go!  Of course, I'll need to buy more candy between now and Halloween!  LOL!!

BOO!

Good evening!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week!  The weather here has been warmer than usual, so we've been enjoying some extra time outside - we have to take advantage of it before it turns cold for good!!

The project I have to share tonight is a Halloween decoration I made for my front door.

I started with letters that I bought from Hobby Lobby that are about 1 inch thick and 6 inches tall.  I painted the sides and backs of the letters with black acrylic paint.

Then I traced around the letters on the back side of pattern papers and cut them out by hand.  I used Mod Podge to adhere the pattern papers to the front of the letters.

Finally I cut out various images with my cricut, stuck them on the letters and tied the letters together with orange crinkle ribbon.  Pretty easy and now we have a fun Halloween decoration for the front door!

I'm going to enter this project into two challenges.  The first is over at Go Fish, where the challenge is to create a 3D Halloween project.  I'm also going to submit this into the Little Monsters challenge at My Craft Spot where you must include a monster on your project.

Happy Halloween everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying the evening and are as amused as I am opening the door to all the creatures, goblins, fairies, etc!

I have one final Halloween card to share today.  This one was fun and easy to make, thanks to the Mini Monsters cartridge!  I used the card feature on the haunted house, the shadow and the layers.  I wanted yellow to come through the windows as if the lights were on, so I cut a piece of yellow glitter paper by hand and adhered it to the back side of the right flap.  Then for a little something extra, I cut a monster to put inside the house.  It came together pretty easily!  Have a Happy Halloween and thanks for stopping by!

Wacky Wednesday #56

Good evening!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a good start.  I had a wonderful evening on Saturday scrapping with one of my bff's.  I was also able to enjoy the wonderful weather we've had the past few days here in the midwest and get out and play a round of golf with a couple of friends on Sunday.  This fall weather has been wonderful!

This week over at More Than Favors, the Wacky Wednesday challenge is Halloween.  I created some treat bag toppers for some kids that my sweetie and I are pretty close to.  I've never made bag toppers before and wasn't sure how to best attach them to my baggies.  I ended up using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.  Does anyone out there have any better ideas for me so there aren't staples showing on my project??  I would love to hear your advice and thanks for stopping by!!

Monday Challenge #30

Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend so far!!  I have a fun night of crafting with a couple of great friends ahead of me tonight, which I'm really looking forward to.  I got a head start on some projects this morning, too!

This week over at My Craft Spot, the Monday Challenge is a 3D Halloween challenge.  Last year I decorated a clear pail for Christmas as part of a class I took.  I had been debating creating one for Halloween because I've seen so many cute creations out there in blog land lately.  This challenge sealed the deal for me, so I went out and bought some clear pails and got to decorating.

I started by putting together strips of paper to line the inside of the can.  The top layer is red at the request of my sweetie who said that he thought red was best because it looked like blood.  Okay!?!  LOL!

I added this little pumpkin-guy, and chose this face from my Peachy Keen stamps because I thought he looked a little mischievous.

 I attached this cute bat with a couple of glue dots on one wing so that he sticks out from the pail a little bit.

 I added a rosette with a little pumpkin to the lid for a little something extra, and decided to give the little pumpkin a scared expression.

Hello!  It's a beautiful start to the weekend here!!  I was able to get my weekend started off on the right foot with a run this morning with some good friends.  Now on to more crafting, watching football and enjoying this great weather while we can!!

Happy Friday evening!  It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend here in the midwest and I'm so looking forward to it.  It's a three day weekend for me, which makes the weekend that much better!

The project I have to share tonight is a Halloween card.  I was recently given My Pink Stamper's new Spook-alicious stamp set by a good friend and I have been so excited to use it.  There are so many fantastic sentiments in it that I had a hard time choosing which ones to use first.

As I was flipping through the Mini Monsters book and looking at the Spook-alicious stamp set, I thought that it might be cute to split the Trick or Treat sentiment up onto the 3 signs hanging from the lightpost.  It took some playing around on my Gypsy to figure out how big I would have to cut the lightpost and signs in order for the stamped words to fit, but I got it figured out - man I love that Gypsy!!  Thanks for stopping by!
