Create a project that uses a heart

For my project, I created another Valentine's card using the Sweethearts cartridge.  I cut three of the heart balloon images and layered them on top of each other.  I brought the strings together and tied a piece of twine around them.

I embossed my background, then popped the balloons up using pop dots, giving the balloons a couple different layers of dimension.

I used a Jaded Blossom sentiment to finish off my card.

Wedding Shower Card

Happy Saturday!  I hope you all had a good week and that your weekend is off to a good start.  My sweetie's cousin is getting married today, and I realized I did not share the card I made for her shower a couple weeks ago.

This card was inspired by her shower invitation.  There was a picture of a bride holding a bouquet and a bow tied around the card.  On the invitation, the bow was red and it was at the top of the card, but I didn't have the right color red ribbon on hand, so I went the the black and white instead.

FCCB #181 - Have Your Cake

Happy Monday!  It's time for another fun challenge at Fantabulous Cricut!!  This week's challenge is Have Your Cake - create a project with a cake or cupcake image.

One of my sweetie's cousins is getting married this coming weekend, and this is the card I made for the happy couple.

Her wedding colors are black, red and white.  I like to play off the invitations when I can, but this invitation was pretty basic - black with red and white font and a red ribbon tied in a knot.  So I took the colors and ran with it.

I gave the card some fun texture with a couple embossing folders and it's hard to see in the picture, but the red bands on the cake are covered in Glossy Accents so they have a nice shine to them.

Car-shaped Anniversary Card

Good evening!  I hope you all had a wonderful week and have a nice Labor Day weekend ahead of you.  My weekend started off with a nice run with a couple good friends this morning, though it was pretty warm and humid.  We're supposed to be getting a break from this heat wave soon, thankfully!

I wanted to share the card I made for my parents who celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary recently.  I have seen a few other people make a shaped card from the image of the couple in the car on the Sweethearts cartridge and think it's such a fun, cute card.  So I decided to make one myself!

This card came together really easily.  I welded 2 shadow images together on my Gypsy, then cut out the regular image with all the layers.  I found a sentiment that fit well on the bumper and added some Stickles to the heart on the license plate.  Simple but cute!

FCCB 171 - Shape Card

Happy Monday!  It's time for another challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut!!  This week's challenge is Shape Card.  I made this card for my brother and sister-in-law's 14th wedding anniversary.

I used Elegant Edges for my card base.  Instead of using my Gypsy or CCR to weld two images together for the base I used the old "cut 2, score and adhere" method.  Sometimes I think it's easier to get the two images to line up easier that way as opposed to when I try to weld two images together and then fold them together just right.

I cut the tree from the Sweethearts cartridge.  It's not a typical anniversary image, but I think those hearts on the tree trunk make the tree so cute!

I Do Layout

Happy Sunday!  Are you all enjoying your weekend?  I had an enjoyable day yesterday spending time in my craft room then going out to dinner with my sweetie's family.

This is one of the layouts I created yesterday - I'm trying to get caught up on my scrapbooking and have been slowly working on my wedding album.  We have an album with all the pictures in it that the photographer took, but so many of our family and friends had fun pictures of our wedding that I decided I wanted to make a scrapbook full of those pictures as well.

These pictures document a moment that my sweetie and I will never forget.  Not just because it's when we exchanged rings, but because the pastor performing our ceremony made it quite memorable.  As you can probably tell from the pictures, we were married on a beach in the Caribbean.  We stayed at a resort that had 16 wonderful restaurants.

In the top right picture above, my sweetie is trying to put the ring on my finger, but my fingers must have been swollen a bit because he was having a hard time getting it on.  The pastor promptly says, "Heather......Heather....you must have been spending too much time in the buffet line!" - which is why we are laughing in the bottom left picture.  In the bottom right picture I'm replying to the pastor, "At least my dress still fits!!"  Such memories, things we will never forget, and why I chose the "These are the moments" accent for this page.

I couldn't get a good picture of the rings I cut with my Cricut, but I put glossy accents and glitter on the diamond for a bit of sparkle.  This picture does show the fun texture of the background paper better though.

Anniversary Card

Happy Saturday!  Are you enjoying the weekend so far?  I got a nice run in this morning and have been able to spend some time crafting, so my weekend is off to a good start.  It was in the 60s here yesterday and today the high is only in the 30s and we could get some snow later.  Crazy how quickly the weather can change!!

This coming Thursday my sweetie and I will be celebrating our first anniversary.  It does not seem like a whole year has gone by already; it seems like it could have been just a few months ago.  I still haven't started on our wedding scrapbook, so I wish it had only been a few months ago - I wouldn't feel so far behind!!

This week over at Fantabulous Cricut, they are having a Tag You're It challenge.  I decided to design my anniversary card so that it would fit this challenge.

I just love the images on the Sweethearts cartridge and decided to go with just the black silhouette to keep the card on the simpler side.  I cut the tag from the Sweethearts cartridge as well, using my Gypsy to hide the cut that was on the tag.

Congratulations to the Happy Couple

Happy Saturday!  I hope you are all enjoying the weekend!!  The weather here has been fabulous - a bit cooler and it feels like fall is in the air.  Such a nice change after all the hot and dry weather we had here in the Midwest all summer.

This week over at Tuesday Alchemy, the challenge is Peace, Love and Happiness in honor of International Peace Day coming up on Friday the 21st.  My step-nephew is getting married in about 3 weeks and I thought this would be a great opportunity to get a card made for him and his bride.  I figure it's fitting for the challenge because I wish them nothing but many many years of peace, love and happiness together!

Anniversary Explosion Box

Happy Saturday!  I hope you're all having a great weekend!  Last Sunday my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.  They have insisted that we do not give them gifts, but I have recently seen some wonderfully crafty ladies post explosion boxes on their blogs and just had to give it a try.  I decided that their anniversary would be a great time to put together an explosion box with various pictures of them and their family through the years.

A few years ago, my grandparents scanned a number of family pictures and put them on DVDs for us.  I went through those pictures and was able to find a lot of pictures that would work for the box from those DVDs - including pictures of my parents graduating from Pharmacy School and their wedding!

The box that I made used 3 sheets of paper, so I was able to fit 20 pictures in the box.  It's hard to fit 40 years of memories in just 20 pictures, but I managed to get pictures of my brother and I as babies, young kids, teenagers, our weddings, as well as pictures of my parent's 3 grandchildren and their great-grandbaby, so I think I managed to capture many of the milestones.

My mom really seemed to like the album and was surprised that I was able to find so many old family pictures.  I had so much fun making this album!  Thanks for coming by to take a look!!

Wedding Cake Thank You

Happy Tuesday!  Can you believe February is already nearly over?!? 

This past weekend, my sweetie and I had a reception here in town to celebrate our destination wedding last month.  Someone who has been very close to my sweetie's family for a number of years offered to make our wedding cake and we gladly took her up on the offer.  We wanted to do something for her as a thank you and decided to get her a gift card to a good restaurant so that she and her husband can go and enjoy a date night.

I made a gift card holder like this one before, that you can see HERE.  I made a standard A2 size card.  Then I took a piece of 5.25 x 11 cardstock and scored it at 4, 5.5 and 7 inches.  I made a slit along the scoreline at 5.5 inches that was just a little wider than the gift card, then zigzag folded the paper and glued it inside the card.  That way the gift card will be held in the middle of the card.

Valentine's Day Card

Hello and Happy Saturday!  My weekend has been busy so far, but my sweetie and I are getting ready to watch a movie.  We don't watch a lot of movies, so I'm really looking forward to a couple relaxing hours with a (hopefully!) good movie.

The project I have to shared tonight is the card I created for my sweetie for Valentine's Day.  I'm going to enter this card into the challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut.  The challenge this week is Love is in the Air and we're supposed to include a heart in our project.  My card has the heart balloons from the Sweethearts cartridge and I also drew a heart border around the mat of the card.  Thanks for coming by and enjoy your weekend!!

Wedding Card

Happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone's week is off to a good start!

Like I said.....wedding-related posts!!  The card I'm sharing today is one I made for my sweetie to give to him on our wedding day.  I'm so excited to be starting our lives together as husband and wife and am so looking forward to all of our adventures together.

I think this image from the Sweethearts cartridge is so cute.  I used it before on a card for one of my sweetie's friend's when he and his wife renewed their vows.  I wanted to use it on our card as well because I think the couple looks happy and like they're having so much fun - and that's what we're hoping for on our wedding day!!

The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper and actually says 'On Your Wedding Day' but I put tape over the 'Y' to make it work for 'our' wedding day.  The tan and white clothes on the guy are intentional as my sweetie will not be wearing a tux at our wedding.  :)  Thanks for coming by!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Today is my parents' 39th wedding anniversary.  I wanted to make a different style of card, just to make it a little more exciting and special.  I've seen a few of the 'Just a Note' style cards and thought they were really cute, so I decided I wanted to try to create that style of card on my Gypsy.  Overall, I was really pleased with how it turned out.  Also, I've had Glossy Accents for a long time, but haven't used them.  I've seen so many others use it on their projects, and I must say, pictures do not do Glossy Accents justice!!  Now that I've seen the results in person, I'm wondering why I haven't been using them this whole time!  I put Glossy Accents and glitter on the diamond of the ring and Glossy Accents on the champagne bottle and glasses and love how it turned out.  Thanks for coming by to check out my creation.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!

Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa!

Yesterday was my grandparent's 64th anniversary.  64 years of marriage - wow!  I don't know that I will make it to celebrate my 64th anniversary because I'll be closing in on 100 years old by then, but I hope that my marriage is as successful as theirs is.  If I am half as happy and fulfilled in my marriage as they have been in theirs, I will be one happy wife.  For their card I decided to use the image of the champagne glasses from the Sweethearts cartridge and tried to dress it up a little bit with shimmer paper, pearls and jewels.  Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!

Sweethearts Love Frame

My first blog post....  I thought I'd start my blog by sharing a picture frame I made for my fiance for Valentine's Day.  We just got engaged on New Year's Eve and this picture is a 'self-portrait' of us right after I said yes - and stopped crying of course!!  This is now one of our favorite pictures of the two of us, and I wanted a special way for us to display it for all to see.
