Congratulations Putting Champ!!

I got an email from my grandparents today.  They moved in to a retirement home a couple of years ago.  They really seem to like it and all the activities available for them.  They were both avid golfers prior to moving into the retirement home, but unfortunately aren't able to get out and play a round of golf like they used to.  Now they're very happy putting on the practice green at their home.  The email I received told me they'd participated in a putting tournament.  There were about 30 people in the tournament and it was a match play event, so similar to March Madness there's a bracket where the winners continue to advance and finally you get down to the last two people playing for the championship.  Sure enough, my grandparents would up meeting each other in the championship match.  From the sounds of it, it was a good match, but my Grandpa ended up victorious.  What started off as a simple congratulations card to my Grandpa turned into a larger, funnier card.  Well.... I think it's funny - we'll see how funny Grandma thinks it is!  My sweetie had the great idea of putting her in the background of the card, upset over the loss.  Here's my creation - I sure hope Grandma's not too mad at me!!

Happy Tenth Birthday!

Today is my niece's tenth birthday!  I can't believe she's already ten years old.  It does not seem like ten years have passed already - it seems like just yesterday that she was born.  Of course I was in college then.... man I'm starting to feel old.  Anyway, when I first got the Birthday Bash cartridge I was looking through all the images and saw this bull holding the number ten and knew it would be perfect for my niece's birthday.  I just got off the phone wishing her a happy birthday and she thanked me for the card saying she really liked it.  Made me feel good!  Sending the happiest of birthday wishes to my sweet niece!

Bundle of Joy!

I thought this was going to be a relaxing evening - yeah right!  When I came home from my run, my fiance said he got some news while I was out.  Our friends had their first baby!  She arrived almost 5 weeks early, but she and mommy are both doing well.  So, after dinner I went downstairs to make a baby card for them so we can get their gift ready for our visit tomorrow.  I'm also making a scrapbook for them to document their baby's first year.  I thought I had a little more time, so it's not quite finished.  I'll be working hard on those pages so I can finish it asap!  We're excited to meet the new baby and so happy for them as they start their family!!

Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa!

Yesterday was my grandparent's 64th anniversary.  64 years of marriage - wow!  I don't know that I will make it to celebrate my 64th anniversary because I'll be closing in on 100 years old by then, but I hope that my marriage is as successful as theirs is.  If I am half as happy and fulfilled in my marriage as they have been in theirs, I will be one happy wife.  For their card I decided to use the image of the champagne glasses from the Sweethearts cartridge and tried to dress it up a little bit with shimmer paper, pearls and jewels.  Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!

Birthday Bash Bunny

This week over at Flaunt it Fridays, the challenge is to create a project using the bunny with present image from the Birthday Bash cartridge.  When I saw the challenge I knew exactly what I would do.  One of my aunts absolutely loves rabbits.  She has various rabbit collectibles, pet rabbits - she even has a sun room where she can sit and enjoy the day, read a book, etc with a small side yard where the rabbit can roam around and explore.  Anyway, I just knew that this bunny would be perfect for my aunt.  Her birthday is still a couple of months away, but I decided to go ahead and make her card early so that I could take part in this challenge.  Thanks for stopping by to check it out!

My First Challenge!

I was so excited to make this card for a couple of reasons.  First of all, some good friends are expecting their first baby in about 6 weeks, and they're having their baby shower next weekend.  So of course I needed to make a card for that!  Second, I saw the 'New Arrival' challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion and thought this would be a perfect way to get started with blogging challenges.  And finally, I just got the 'Sweet Baby' My Pink Stamper stamps, which are so neat - and obviously perfect for this occasion!  I saw the stork and delivery images on the 'New Arrival' cartridge and thought they fit perfectly with the sentiment from my new stamps.  Here's my creation and my introduction to scrapping challenges!  Thanks for stopping by to check it out!!

Birthday Cake Card

Tomorrow my sweetie's Grandpa turns 91!  I seem to have a hard time making cards for men, because I tend to make them too girly.  Well, it happened once again....  I found this image on the Wrap It Up cartridge and thought it would be a neat card to make.  Of course once I got it all cut out and assembled I thought it needed a little something more.  So, a few jewels and some Stickles later and I managed to create yet another 'girly' card for a man.  Oh well.  He's getting it anyway!!

Float Trip

I'm finally getting caught up on my scrapbook!  I started a scrapbook dedicated to the trips my sweetie and I take, and managed to get nearly a year behind.  Pretty bad considering we really don't take THAT many trips!!  My sweetie's family tries to go on a float trip every year, and these pages are from that trip.  There was a record number of family and friends that went on the trip, which made it even more fun.  His family is all about playing around and having fun, so the float on the river was full of water gun fights and throwing water-filled Nerf balls at each other.  So much fun!!

Pagoda Fan Thank You

This card filled a want and a need.  I got the Pagoda cartridge for Christmas last year, but had not yet used it.  I think there are so many neat images on it, but just hadn't found the right project for any of them.  I needed to make a thank you card for my parents and decided I was going to use the Pagoda cartridge for it.  I flipped through the book and found the two fan images and thought one would look neat on a card.  The fan was a simple image with only one layer.  I used pop dots on the fan, added some ribbon and a 'thank you' rub on for an easy but classy looking card.  Since the card base was navy, I used a white Sakura Jelly Roll pen to write my note.  The white ink stood out on the dark card well, which I really liked.

'Hang in There' Card

I made this card for a friend that I run with.  She was training for her first marathon and found out the week before the race that she has 2 stress fractures in one of her feet.  How upsetting to train and work so hard to get ready to run 26.2 miles, only to find out the week before that you can't run!  I felt so bad for her, so I made this card to tell her I was wishing her a speedy recovery.  Hopefully the fractures will heal and she'll be able to get back to training soon so she can get that first marathon completed.

Good Luck Leprechan

I made this card for a good friend of mine.  We met about two and a half years ago when we both started working for the same company at about the same time.  We discovered that we both like scrapbooking and card making, and it didn't take long for our friendship to be formed.  Tomorrow is her last day at work, as she has taken a new job with a new company.  I made this card for her to wish her luck at her new job and with the new career path she has ahead of her.  Her husband is Irish and they are both very into St. Patrick's Day and all things Irish.  With St. Patty's Day right around the corner, I thought the leprechan was very fitting for this occasion.  I got the Simply Charmed cartridge from my sweetie for Christmas and love it!  I think there are so many great images on this cart and this leprechan and pot of gold are so cute!!

Sweethearts Love Frame

My first blog post....  I thought I'd start my blog by sharing a picture frame I made for my fiance for Valentine's Day.  We just got engaged on New Year's Eve and this picture is a 'self-portrait' of us right after I said yes - and stopped crying of course!!  This is now one of our favorite pictures of the two of us, and I wanted a special way for us to display it for all to see.
