If the Crown Fits.....

Good evening!  I hope you have all had a great weekend!  My sweetie and I went to Ames, IA to cheer on my Iowa State Cyclones as they played Baylor in their homecoming game.  We had a great time with some friends and were thankful that it wasn't too terribly cold for the game.  And the Cyclones won, so that was the icing on the cake!!

While we were gone, we missed a close friend's daughter's birthday party.  We stopped by a couple days early to drop off her birthday card and gift.  She had a Princess and the Pop Star themed birthday party.  I went to my Rock Princess handbook and started looking at images in an effort to find something that would work for her party.  This is what I selected:

Looks like a princess mixed with a pop star to me with the crown on her head!  LOL!!

I'm going to submit this card into the challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas.  The challenge this week is Glimmer, Shimmer, Gloss.  I added Stickles to the crown and stripes on the girl's top as well as Glossy Accents to her boots and the bow in her hair.

BOO!

Good evening!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week!  The weather here has been warmer than usual, so we've been enjoying some extra time outside - we have to take advantage of it before it turns cold for good!!

The project I have to share tonight is a Halloween decoration I made for my front door.

I started with letters that I bought from Hobby Lobby that are about 1 inch thick and 6 inches tall.  I painted the sides and backs of the letters with black acrylic paint.

Then I traced around the letters on the back side of pattern papers and cut them out by hand.  I used Mod Podge to adhere the pattern papers to the front of the letters.

Finally I cut out various images with my cricut, stuck them on the letters and tied the letters together with orange crinkle ribbon.  Pretty easy and now we have a fun Halloween decoration for the front door!

I'm going to enter this project into two challenges.  The first is over at Go Fish, where the challenge is to create a 3D Halloween project.  I'm also going to submit this into the Little Monsters challenge at My Craft Spot where you must include a monster on your project.

Halloween Jar Luminaries

Happy Friday eve!  Time is flying by - I can't believe Halloween is less than 2 weeks away.  Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be here, quickly followed by Christmas and New Year's!!

The project I have to share tonight is one I discovered on Pinterest.  With no kids, my sweetie and I just don't have the desire to carve pumpkins for Halloween.  At the same time, I love seeing jack-o-lanterns lit up in windows and on front porches when kids are out trick or treating.  So, I just needed to find a way to get the jack-o-lantern look without putting all the work into carving a pumpkin!

Last year, I made paper bag luminaries to set out on the front porch.  You can see that post HERE if you missed it.  A few weeks ago I saw Halloween luminaries made from glass jars on Pinterest.  You can check that project out HERE.

First, I cleaned up a couple of spaghetti sauce jars.  Then I mixed some orange acryllic paint with basic white glue (about half and half) and painted the inside of the jars.  Yes - the inside.  It was a little tricky, but I did a little searching online and people tend to say it looks better if you paint the inside of the jars.  I cut out a couple of Cricut images in black vinyl and used transfer tape to put them on the jars then added some Halloween ribbon to the top to finish them off.  Add tealights and we're done!

And with the lights turned out:

We'll be keeping these luminaries inside - I'm worried they'll get knocked over and then we'll have broken glass on our front porch.  So these will likely sit in the front windows and the paper luminaries will probably make their appearance on the front steps again.

I'm going to submit this project into this week's challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas.  The challenge this week is to use a pumpkin.  I used a pumpkin in an effort to replace a pumpkin!!  :)

Thanksgiving Cornucopia

Good evening!  I have another quick Thanksgiving card to share this evening.  I created this card to send to Madison for her I Feel the Love project.  As I mentioned in my last post, Madison is collecting Thanksgiving cards this month.  The cards are going to be given to residents of Surrey Place Care Center, an elderly care facility, in November.  Be sure to visit Madison's blog HERE for more information - like the address to send some Thanksgiving cards to!!  :)

Here is the card I came up with - it's pretty similar to the card in my last post.  I used a couple different images from the Create a Critter 2 cartridge that I got not too long ago.  I absolutely love that cartridge - it has so many great images on it!

Thanksgiving Card

Happy Sunday!  I hope you have all had a great weekend!  We had a very rainy Saturday, but I still got my morning run in with a couple of great friends.  My sweetie and I went to play golf this morning, but it was so windy we decided to stop after 9 holes.  Fall is officially here and we're running out of nice days to get out and play!

I got some crafting in this afternoon and got a lot of progress made on a number of projects.  One project I got finished was a Thanksgiving card.  I'm going to submit this card in the challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas.  Their challenge this week is Fall Colors and we're asked to create a project using our 3 favorite fall colors.  My 3 favorite fall colors are red, orange and brown.  I love the earthy colors and they remind me of the trees changing colors.

I am going to send this card to Madison's I Feel the Love project.  For the month of October, Madison is collecting Thanksgiving cards that will be given to residents of Surrey Place Care Center in November.  Surrey Place Care Center is an elderly care facility in Florida.  For more information on Madison's project, visit her blog HERE.

Happy Friday!  It feels like forever since I've posted here, and I'm trying to catch up on what's been going on in blogland this past week or so (and get caught up with work, emails, etc too!).  I was out in southern Utah for a marathon and some sightseeing.  We went to Snow Canyon State Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, Zion National Park and Valley of Fire State Park - 4 parks in 4 days!  We were busy and couldn't see everything in all the parks, but we sure saw and experienced a lot!!  If you haven't been out to southern Utah to go to these parks I highly recommend it; it was absolutely beautiful!!

On to my project for today......I needed another thank you card and recently picked up the Amusing Animals stamp set from Scrappy Moms Stamps.  As I was looking at the stamps, this sentiment popped out at me so I decided to pair it with the little sheep image from the Create a Critter cartridge, which I think is so cute.

Good evening!  This week has been going by fast for me - perhaps because I'm excited for the weekend!  :)  My sweetie worked a little late today, so I was able to do some crafting before he got home.

This is one of the cards I made this evening.  I need a few more thank you cards and I was inspired by this week's challenge over at Die Cuttin Divas.  They're having a sketch challenge this week and I think those are so fun!  I tend to fall into patterns with my cards and they all tend to look similar, but following a sketch spices things up a bit for me!
